Right across the world we have experienced economic, political, social, and indeed, moral collapse. Individualism and greed have proved our undoing as inept government, irresponsible banking, and an out-of-control construction sector have brought us to the edge of ruin. The free-market system is in meltdown and needs replacing.
 
The fundamental issue is cultural. Rather than being concerned with solidarity, we were carried away by selfishness and no solution is possible in that environment. The answer lies in community. Lasting progress is possible in such a context and transformation can spring from the grassroots.
