The twin themes of Advent give to this period of the Church's year a potent blend of expectation and rejoicing; we look for the return of the King before we find him in the manger.
 
These six sketches for Christian drama groups reflect aspects of each of these attitudes - from Mary and Joseph's pre-natal problems in Marriage Guidance and the birth of Jesus in The Surprise Breakfast, through John the Baptist's preparation for Christ's ministry in Clearing the Way and the childhood, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus in Reunion to his second coming in Sitting Tenants and The King's Return.
 
They can be performed Sunday by Sunday from Advent to Epiphany, used as occasional productions with an appropriate sermon or talk, or run in their entirety as part of a special Advent evening.
